During his career Ripken was voted as the MLB All-Star player a total of 19 times. He was also the baseball’s all-time Iron Man because he played despite of his injuries. At 6′ 4″, he was believed to be one of the best shortstops in baseball.
On January 9, 2007 Ripken was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility. He stressed that athletes should be people that we can emulate. He believed in giving back to the community.
